PURPOSE

This webinar will shed light on the hybrid scoring system that is applied in the Speaking and Writing sections of the TOEFL iBT Test® We will first discuss how human raters work and what tools they are using, including scoring rubrics, benchmarks and annotations. Then we will explain how SpeechRater® Service and e-rater® Scoring Engine is used to complement human scoring.

Joanna Wrzesińska

Joanna Wrzesinka manages teacher training and outreach to organizations in EMEA as the Head of ELT and Institutional Relations at ETS Global. She is also a volunteer committee member of IATEFL TEASIG. Joanna holds an M.A. degree in TEFL and is based in Poland and Greece. Before joining ETS, Joanna worked as a teacher and academic manager in the private sector.

Arum Perwitasari Ph.D.

Dr. Arum Perwitasari is an Academic Relations Lead at ETS Global Amsterdam. She is an experienced educator with many years of experience in English Language Teaching (ELT) and digital learning and assessment. She also holds a PhD in Linguistics from Leiden University in the Netherlands. Prior to moving to the Netherlands, Arum was an Assistant Professor of English in Indonesia.
